Laasya Doppalapudi

University of Virginia

Class of 2026

My name is Laasya Doppalapudi and I am a first year at the University of Virginia. From sorting and distributing food at food banks to assisting residents in a senior living center, I had a passion for volunteering for as long as I can remember. I volunteered with Claude Moore Community Builders, which exposed me to many nonprofits in my area such as Joshua's Hands, the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, and INMED Partnerships for Children. With the Academies of Loudoun Hunger Relief, I formed more connections with food banks and pantries while also learning how to work with my peers to organize food drives and events to raise awareness about hunger in Northern Virginia. Over time, by working with various organizations, I gained connections, memories, and lessons that every person should have. My own volunteering experiences inspired me to create a simple, straightforward way for students to get involved in their community. With NOVA Volunteers, students have a platform to easily search for volunteering opportunities and events in their area. I hope NOVA Volunteers will guide young people in their journey of volunteering and inspire a passion for giving back.
